Factors Influencing Assimilation of Dietary Starch in Beef and Dairy Cattle
نویسنده
چکیده
• The process of starch assimilation in the ruminant is complex and remains an avenue by which increases in production efficiency can be gained. • Ruminal starch digestion is typically 75 to 80% of starch intake. Starch that escapes fermentation and flows to the small intestine may be more resistant to enzymatic digestion. On average, 35 to 60% of starch entering the small intestine is degraded there, and of the fraction that escapes small intestinal digestion, 35 to 50% is degraded in the large intestine. This suggests that limitations to small intestinal starch digestion do exist.

Livestock Farming Systems and Cattle Production Orientation in Eastern High Plains of Algeria, Cattle Farming System in Algerian Semi-Arid Region
This study was an attempt to devise productive orientations of cattle herds in eastern high plains of Algeria. In this regard, 165 farms randomly identified were investigated. The selection of breeders was based to existence of cattle on the farm, and the farmer proposed to investigation must have at least two cows. The approach taken was to identify all systems adopted by farmers in a region t...
متن کاملSerum Albumin Polymorphism in Cattle.
FIVE cattle serum albumin phenotypes resolved by starch gel electrophoresis have been described briefly by ASHTON and LAMPKIN (1 964). It was suggested that the variation represented serum albumin polymorphism controlled by a locus with three alleles. Further observations on albumin phenotypes have been made on British and Zebu beef and dairy cattle in Australia and are the subject of this report.

This editorial seeks to help eradicate confusions, enlighten the current perceptions, and highlight a global need to develop feasible guidelines for optimum bioprocessing of barley grain (BG). The optimum processing techniques must result in moderated rumen fermentation of starch and protein, improved rumen microbial protein synthesis, reduced risks of Sub-Acute Rumen Acidosis (SARA) and pro-in...

متن کاملThe effect of embryonic death rates in cattle on the efficacy of estrus synchronization programs.
Reproductive failure in inseminated cattle results from poor fertilization and embryo survival. Recent studies utilizing dairy and beef cattle indicate that fertilization rates are higher for nulliparous dairy and beef heifers and nonlactating beef cows than lactating beef and dairy cows and nonlactating dairy cows. Several factors affect fertilization rates, but the greatest impact was observe...
